What do you look for when selecting procurement talent?

Hi all, During my general business studies I noticed an underrepresentation of SCM courses in comparison to the likes of finance, marketing and HRM. Having developed a keen interest for the field I am fascinated by the various routes that people take to get into procurement. This leads to the above question.. Another way to phrase the question: how would you have shaped your trajectory if you would start from scratch again?
